Here's how to plan the perfect trip.

Day One

Hit the (Prosecco) road!

9am: Pick up a rental car and depart Melbourne via the Hume Freeway.

10:30am: stop for a coffee at Benalla, which is connected with the story of Australia’s most famous bushranger Ned Kelly. Have a coffee at the Gallery Café at the Benalla Art Gallery and, if time allows, pop in to see one of Australia’s most famous painters, Sidney Nolan’s tapestry Glenrowan.

Wine and dine at Sam Miranda's Cellar Door

12pm: Arrive at your first winery –Sam Miranda King Valley. Stretch your legs, wander around the produce garden and enjoy long lunch on the lawn or in the cellar door restaurant.

2.30pm: After lunch, taste your way through the range of King Valley wines at Sam Miranda’s cellar door.

Check in to Casa Luna Gourmet Accommodation

4pm: Drive to your boutique stay for the night, Casa Luna Gourmet Accommodation.

4.30pm onwards: Check in to your private suite and enjoy a fun game of bocce while your hosts Gwenda and David prepare King Valley prosecco spritz and a casual, flavourful dinner.

Day Two

Visit the pioneers of Australian Prosecco - Dal Zotto wines

10am: After a breakfast of fresh, local produce, drive to Drive to Dal Zotto Wines, pioneers of Australian prosecco.

10.30: At Dal Zotto, hire an e-bike with the optional inclusion of a picnic hamper packed with local delights such as salami, olives and preserves, and take a scenic cycle to the banks of the pristine King River.
12pm: If you’ve opted for the picnic hamper, enjoy lunch beside the river. Alternatively, cycle back to the cellar door for an Italian-inspired lunch at Dal Zotto's Trattoria, followed by a wine tasting of Italian varietals - including, of course, Prosecco!

Take in the views from Powers Lookout

3pm: Depart Dal Zotto Wines and drive 20 minutes to Powers Lookout.

3.30pm: At Powers Lookout, take in the expansive views of the King Valley and learn about Harry Power, the notorious local bushranger who used this spot as his hiding place.

Time to relax in the heart of the King Valley

4.30pm onwards: Make your way back to Casa Luna Gourmet Accommodation. Enjoy a glass of prosecco in the lounge while poring over Gwenda’s recipe book collection or perhaps a game of bocce, and later settle in for a deluxe wine-matched dinner.

Day Three

Pop & Fizz Prosecco Food Pairing Class

10am: After coffee and breakfast in the glass-walled dining room, check out of Casa Luna Gourmet Accommodation and drive to Pizzini Wines. Participate in their energetic food and wine pairing experience ‘Pop & Fizz’, before exploring the winery’s whole range at the tasting counter.

Lunch with a view at Chrismont Cellar Door

11.30: Make the 10-minute drive from Pizzini to Chrismont and head to the cellar door for a tasting.

1pm: With one of the best views of the valley, indulge in a long lunch of prosecco, pasta, desserts and coffee on Chrismont’s balcony.

Take time to explore

3pm: Spend the afternoon exploring the natural attractions of the King Valley. Lake William Hovell is a 15-minute drive from Chrismont – take in the views and enjoy the peace and quiet. For something even more spectacular, take the longer drive to the Paradise Falls rock formation.

6pm: Dine on Aussie pub classics at the Mountain View Hotel in the village of Whitfield.

7.30pm: Drive to Milawa and check in at the Lancemore Milawa boutique hotel.

Day Four

Start the day the King Valley way - with Prosecco and friends

10am: Start the morning King Valley style with an unforgettable prosecco experience: a private Prosecco Brunch at Brown Brothers. Here you’ll be able to explore a range of prosecco styles, while enjoying a spread of sweet and savoury treats. It’s the perfect opportunity to celebrate with friends and family.

Discover the Milawa Gourmet Region

12.30: Explore the Milawa Gourmet Region–participate in a tasting at Milawa Cheese Company – and stock up on cheese, honey, charcuterie and olives.

2.30pm: It’s time to hit the road and drive from Milawa to Melbourne. You’ll be back in time to check into your hotel and enjoy the city’s nightlife.
