Quite where Politini pulled this estate-grown wine from I'm not sure, but it's not a good idea to look a gift horse in the mouth. The wine has a particularly good hue for age - remarkable; likewise, the freshness of the varietal fruit, and even more, the price. If all this were not enough, the packaging is elegant. It hardly needs be said that it's ready right now. James Halliday, 1001 wines under $20 - 2012 edition
At the top end, Australia's cutting edge bubblies, like Arras, come up against the French originals in both price and quality. At the bottom, any number of clean, fresh, but fairly bland bubblies do the trick. In the middle ground, Brown Brothers impresses because skilled winemaking adds a patina of complex flavours and textures around exactly the right type of fruit flavours. This comes from the classic Champagne varieties grown in cooler parts of Victoria's King Valley and Whitlands Plateau. Chris Shannahan - chrisshannahan.com, 14 December 2011

A King Valley wine that will surprise with its orange zest, passionfruit and musk aromas. Full of wild, tropical imaginings and then palate interest with citrus, spice and lovely orange cream biscuit flavours. 4 out of 5 stars - A cut above Top 20 wines for Christmas - Tony Love - Taste.com.au
Typical bright and juicy cherries and lively tannin/acid crunch here. Not over-complicated and very much in the style of the previous releases. A staple wine for sure. 90/100 WINE 100 Nick Stock June 2011
Il Barone heads the most alluring set of wines I've seen from the heights of the King Valley. Cabernet, Shiraz and friends unite in a bright, crunchy, textural wine of exotic complexity. 96/100 WINE 100, Tyson Stelzer June 2011
Consistently nails Pinot Grigio's crisp, fresh and unfussy style. Awarded Best Pinot Grigio/Pinot Gris Age/SMH Good Wine Guide 2012
Nebbiolo has a bit of a cult thing about it, and all the reasons are on display here; its lightish garnet in colour, it smells of warm rocks, garden herbs, fennel and florals. It has trademark true grit in the mouth, fullish tannins yet not too overwhelming, balanced fruit bite, and savoury tobacco-like interest in the finish. Lots going on. 94/100 Herald Sun Top 100 WINES 2011/2012
"It's grown at about 300 metres above sea level on vines that are now nearly ten years old. It now comes in a proprietary 'King Valley' prosecco bottle, which is lovely to see - a real sign of confidence/harmony for the region. Reckon they are bang on with this release. It's fine and crisp but not at all lacking in flavour. Red apples galore. Some bready complexity. More than an ounce of finesse. More-ish lisp of fruit sweetness. Tick tick tick."90 points.
