Selector Magazine recently completed an in-depth look at Australian Pinot Grigio and Pinot Gris wines, with a tasting panel naming the top 20 wines evaluated, six of which were from the King Valley!
The King Valley is a region often described as Australia's little Italy and is an area recognised for its suitability for producing Italian wine varieties such Pinot Grigio/Gris.
The six King Valley wines highlighted in the article were Redbank ‘Sunday Morning' Pinot Gris 2010, described as wonderfully aromatic with floral musk, pear and apple characters; Sam Miranda Pinot Grigio 2010, a vibrant wine with a racy palate; Dal Zotto Pinot Grigio 2011, a wine with gentle aromatics and pure freshness; Chrismont ‘La Zona' Pinot Grigio 2010 which showed fantastic balance and length, along with Gapsted Limited Release Pinot Gris 2010 and Crittenden Estate ‘Pinocchio' Pinot Grigio 2010.
