Weekend Fit for a King

Queen's Birthday Weekend - Saturday 10 + Sunday 11 June 2017

Weekend Fit for a King showcases what the King Valley is all about: Italian heritage, family, local and seasonal homemade food, generous hospitality and truly fine wine. It's your chance to meet and chat with the family members who make our wines, engage in unique cellar door experiences, and become part of our vibrant community.

Whether you're settling in for a long lunch with friends, bringing the family out for a day of delicious food and good old-fashioned fun, or simply keen to taste some new release wines, we know you're going to love Weekend Fit for a King.

Festival Guide: Participating wineries, menus and program will be available in April. Add your details to our mailing list to be notified when the 2017 festival guide is available.

Getting here

The Hume Freeway, the Maroondah and Midland Highways, and the Great Alpine Road feed into the region – the journey from Melbourne is a comfortable 3 hours, or 4 hours from Canberra. All roads leading to the region are sealed, and offer spectacular views.

Albury Airport facilitates daily flights between Melbourne, Canberra, Sydney and Brisbane, operated by Qantas Link, REX, Virgin Airlines and JETGO. All major rental car agencies are based at the airport. Wangaratta railway station is on the main Sydney-Melbourne rail link.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a festival ticket if I'm not drinking?

Yes, please. The festival tickets cover the entertainment and infrastructure necessary to run the event and the continuing promotion of our region. If you're not drinking wine this weekend, we are pleased to offer you a reusable coffee cup instead of a souvenir wine glass. Pick this up from any participating winery on the day, and grab a complimentary coffee, too.

Will there be buses running?

Tours are offered by NorthEast Coachlines across the festival weekend - book a coach tour here. If you choose to organise your own small bus, please check with the wineries you intend to visit.

Are children welcome?

Absolutely! Please leave your pets at home, however.
