Weekend Fit for a King Wine + Food Festival will not be held in 2018.
The festival has been delivered by Wines of the King Valley, the marketing group made up of winemaking and grapegrowing members, for over a decade. In 2018, we are concentrating on developing new events for other times of the year, and letting our wineries shine on the Queen's Birthday weekend.
Winemaking families of the region open their cellar doors for a celebration of the season – think open fires, warming winter reds, feasts of pizza, pasta and porchetta. Even without a regional festival, there’s just as much on as usual – there’s live music, markets of local produce and handmade goods and long walks to be taken in the crisp, cool air. Check out each winery's individual offering. Entry fees and group booking policies apply at some venues.
Be the first to taste new-release wines, and talk to the winemaker about this year’s vintage. They may even pull out a special wine they’ve been keeping for an occasion like this.
Grab a picnic basket and make your way around our farmgates to explore what we produce. Bring walking shoes to venture to a lookout and take in the exquisite valley and mountain views of Victoria's High Country.
From tasting plates of local produce, to family-favourite recipes, long degustation dinners and indulgent desserts, there are plenty of options to match to a glass - or bottle - of King Valley wine.
